Il Pozzo Sartori, con il suo castello di estrazione alto 32 metri, venne costruito tra le miniere di S. Antonio e di Piccalinna, per razionalizzare l’estrazione dei minerali nella zona di levante.
Venne intestato, nel 1937, a quota + 279m slm. e prese il nome di pozzo Impero prima e Sartori poi.
Nel 1938 raggiunse la profondità di 281 m (XII livello). Nel 1957 l’impianto di estrazione venne interamente modificato e l’estrazione non avveniva più con i vagoni ma tramite un sistema “skip” che caricava e scaricava automaticamente il materiale accelerando di molto l’estrazione e abbattendo notevolmente i costi.
Nel 1960 venne ulteriormente approfondito fino a raggiungere il XVIII livello alla quota di – 186,89 m s.l.m. più altri 40 m circa per scendere alla camera skip e alla camera pompe alla quota di -226,52 m s.l.m. per una profondità totale di 510 m. Rimase in funzione fino al 1989.
Sartori Shaft
The Sartori Shaft, which has a 32 meters high extraction castle, was built between the Sant’Antonio and Piccalinna mines to rationalise the extraction activities in the east area. It was built in 1937 at 279 m AMSL and was first called Empire and next Sartori.In 1938 it was 281 m deep (XII level).
In 1957 the extraction plant was entirely changed and the extraction was not made anymore through freight cars but through an automatic system able to load and unload the ore.
This innovation accelerated the extraction process and considerably reduced the costs.In 1960 the shaft had XVIII levels and reached 186.89 m BMSL, plus about another 40 m to go down to the skip room and to the pump room. Therefore, overall the shaft was 510 m deep.
It remained in operation until 1989.
