Ospitava inizialmente sei forge per la forgiatura e la tempera. Costituiva un laboratorio di fondamentale importanza per la costruzione e la manutenzione degli utensili metallici necessari all’attività in miniera.
I fabbri perpetuavano così, nella moderna produzione mineraria, un’arte antica che per secoli ha caratterizzato questo territorio.
Reparto forgiatrici
Con l’avvento delle perforatrici per i fori da mina (inizialmente elettriche e successivamente ad aria compressa), a causa della rapida usura cui erano sottoposti i ferri, fu ricavato un reparto forgiatrici anche sul lato Ovest dell’edificio Fonderia che serviva appunto a rigenerare i ferri da mina sia sul lato dell’impugnatura che del fioretto.
Forge
Initially this building housed six forges for forging and tempering metals. It was a very important laboratory for the construction and maintenance of metal tools necessary for the work in the mines. Here, the blacksmiths perpetuated, though for modern mining production, a traditional “art” that for centuries has characterized this area.With the introduction of drills for mine holes (initially electric, then pneumatic), due to rapid wear of drill bits, a new forging department was set up also in the west side of the building, which aimed precisely to regenerate drill bits.
Forging Department
After the advent of drilling for blast holes (initially electric and later pneumatic), a forging department was also set up on the west side of the Foundry in order to repair the drill bits.
